It all started around the eighties, led by leader Pedro dos Santos Ambrósio in 1985, Pedro Ambrósio and some residents founded the Asa Norte-Bom Sucesso Association. In 1987, he founded the large community open market, today the largest shopping center in Maranhão open on Sundays. In 1998, he founded Rádio Comunitária Maranhão do Sul 87.9, a fantasy name alluding to the Movement's campaign to create the State of Southern Maranhão. And in 2007 Rádio Maranhão do Sul was granted and authorized, and currently plays a great community role in the city of Imperatriz. The objective of the Asa Norte Bom Sucesso Association is to be, through RÁDIO MARANHÃO DO SUL FM, a tool for promoting the economic, cultural and artistic development of the region, providing citizens with news and information that can contribute to local development. For the main objective to be achieved, community participation in the actions generated by the Radio is necessary.
